Two Elite Fencing Academy Students Win Bronze

Pan American Youth Championship

Two students from Elite Fencing Academy in Johns Creek, owned by a Korean-American, have gained attention for winning medals while representing the U.S. at an international competition.

Julian Kim (9 years old) and Navya Neelam (10 years old), both members of Elite Fencing Academy (coached by Ahmed & Ayman Fayez), participated in the 2022 Pan American Youth & Veteran Fencing Championship held in Lima, Peru, from August 22 to 26. Julian secured a bronze medal in the boys’ épée category, while Navya won a bronze medal in the girls’ épée category.

Julian Kim, of Korean descent, is currently ranked 4th nationwide in the U.S. in the boys’ épée category for ages 10 and under. Navya Neelam achieved the distinction of being ranked 1st nationwide in the girls’ épée category for ages 10 and under last year.

Their remarkable accomplishments are the result of three years of rigorous training and dedication, and both are considered promising young athletes with bright futures in fencing.

Elite Fencing Academy is recognized as one of the best clubs by USA Fencing and is among the fastest-growing fencing academies in the country. Head coach Ahmed Fayez is a former national team coach, while coach Ayman Fayez is a skilled mentor with experience competing in two Olympic Games.

With a team of seven fencing coaches, Elite Fencing Academy currently trains 160 youth and junior athletes and also operates a facility in Springfield, Virginia.

In a competitive environment where even strong academic records may not guarantee admission to prestigious U.S. universities, Elite Fencing Academy has successfully helped many of its athletes gain acceptance into top-tier schools.
